JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing the monthly close, upholding IFRS and driving improvements in the financial reporting. The successful candidate will assist with planning and reporting, Budgeting/Forecasting, financial statement preparation, financial modeling, and business process improvement.  From time to time, will be required to supervise the accounting team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure. 
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. 
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information. 
  • Manage the preparation and review of the monthly consolidated financial statements.
  • Strong management of the day-to-day Corporate Accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting and General Accounting.
  • Assist with the daily banking requirements. 
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of ACH and wire transactions. 
  • Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Supports budget and forecasting activities. 
  • Collaborates with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives. 
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. 
  • Responds to inquiries from the Controller and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like. 
  • Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit. 
  • Supervise the accounting group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. 
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. 
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed. 
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. 
  • Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Business degree with an emphasis in Accounting or equivalent experience.  CPA designation required.
  • Five years prior experience in the financial reporting area.
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to manage relationships with third parties.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.

  • Manufacturing experience with highly developed MRP / ERP skills.
  • Experience with multi-site companies /financials.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environment and cost accounting.
  • Proactive and independent working style.
