JOB SUMMARY

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for all areas relating to purchasing from LMI.  This position will be responsible for purchasing of components and materials to cover the production forecast and ensure production operates at an optimum level, as well as  new product introductions, R&D, and other departments as required. The Purchasing Manager supervises the purchasing staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This role has the authority to plan and execute all activities involved in sourcing parts, including issuing purchase orders, ensuring timely deliveries, selecting and monitoring quality suppliers, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels to meet production demand while minimizing inventory exposure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads and provides directions to purchasing team on order management and managing inventory from demands generated by demand planning as well as R&D orders.
  • Conducts purchasing activities in accordance with the Quality Management System requirements for production builds.
  • Provides policies and reviews existing policies to meet LMI’s goals of inventory targets.
  • In charge of supplier evaluation, selection, and management ensuring suppliers are able to meet LMI requirements for quality, on-time delivery, and price.
  • Negotiates pricing, delivery requirements, and quantities with suppliers striving for cost reduction opportunities and ensures level of inventory is optimized.
  • Works with the Material Review Board and suppliers to identify and eliminate quality issues.
  • Maintains optimal stock levels by setting safety stock and re-order point levels and batch sizes in Netsuite to satisfy demand for manufacturing by regularly using Netsuite Re-order Report.
  • Organizes regular pricing and inventory level reviews.
  • Ensures that technical documentation, product configuration and specification provided to suppliers are complete, accurate and up-to date.
  • Responds to and works with suppliers for changes introduced by Engineering Change Orders.
  • Manages status and update purchase order and vendor related information in Netsuite database.
  • Proactively contributes to and implements continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary Technical or Business diploma or degree. 
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems 
  • Experience with contract manufacturing and dealing with off-shore suppliers.
  • Purchasing, inventory management, supply chain planning, logistics
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum 7 years of purchasing experience.
